MIA's Consultations in Laos
The four-party's Third Annual Consultative Meeting on Americans Missing in Action during the war in Indochina was held in Luang Prabang province, Lao PDR.
Delegates from four nations (Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and USA) highlighted the results of their cooperation since the last year's meeting in Cambodia and agreed to work together over the next year in searching and excavating for American MIA in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
They also agreed to keep studying file documents and collecting evidence to support each other during the searching operation based on the respects of national independence, territorial integrity and customs.
Delegates affirmed the consistent humanitarian policy from the governments of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam toward the MIA issue.
H.E.Mr. Phongsavath Boupha, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR opened the meeting noting the strong cooperation in the search for Americans by the people of three Indochina governments, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. He also noted that this cooperation came into action because of the good will of the people of three nations in the light of the humanitarian policy of the government of the three countries, towards to the American people who lost their sons and relatives in the war (Remarks).
He pledged his nation's continued cooperation in this humanitarian mission of achieving the fullest possible accounting of the missing.
