The Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved to support the government of Lao PDR in achieving its poverty reduction and development goals through a $20 million public sector loan, a private sector loan of up to $50 million and a political risk guarantee of up to an aggregate maximum liability of $50 million.  

In this regards, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic had expressed its deep appreciation to ADB for its support and approve the loans and risk guarantees. It also stressed that the Nam Theun II project will generate much needed revenue to enable the government to spend on basic social services such as health, water supply and education for the Lao people.
